The Soft Tip - A game changer when introduced to the public PDR industry 8-10 years ago. A multi-function 7/16 rod created for big dent removals, door dings, deep dents, creases and you name it. The advantage of this tool is awesome because of the multiple tip usage. Different screw on tips and extensions for leverage make this Soft Tip a "don't leave home without it" tool.
You can choose from a blunt tip or sharp tip for pin point finishing. Not to mention, different screw on rubber tips for moving a lot of metal without harming the paint finish.
What really makes a Soft Tip so special are the caps that fit over the blunt tip. This allows the technician to start off with the softest cap and work the dent down. Once the dent is worked down, the PDR technician can use a more harder plastic cap but still prevent push marks. The caps were designed to shrink down the metal quickly and efficiently.
So if you are looking for one of the most popular tools on the market and don't want to be dissapointed, then the Soft Tip is for you!
Useful Guidlines of the PDR Soft Tip
- Don't expect to finish a small deep ding with a rubber or plastic cap. Otherwise you may over stretch the dent and jeopardize your whole PDR repair. You'll have better luck using a sharper tip to pinpoint out the rest of the center point.
- When working creases, we prefer the plastic cap to start. Then switch to the meduim tip and eventually the pencil tip for final finishing.
- Sometimes, you may want to use plastic knock down tips to push out a deep crease or center pit. The plastic tips help avoid mircro cracks or irreversible push mark damage.
- Use tape (Gaffers) over any of the metal tips to give a little cushion for added strength without loosing push torque.
